
HKUST InnoBay concluded its inaugural InnoBay Launchpad Tour (ILT) — GBA, a three-day, two-night deep-tech ecosystem tour across Shenzhen, Nansha and Guangzhou from 8 to 10 September 2026.
The delegation was led by Dr. S.C. Kim, Associate Vice President (Knowledge Transfer), and Dr. Justin Jia, Head (Innovation Infrastructure Development) of the Office of Knowledge Transfer, together with HKUST deep-tech startup teams and OKT representatives.
Highlights
- 13 deep-tech teams pitched across two tracks — semiconductors and smart hardware, and advanced materials and manufacturing.
- Three InnoBay regional nodes were officially launched: InnoBay@Shenzhen, InnoBay@Guangzhou and InnoBay@Foshan.
- Visits to HKUST(GZ) iPARK, the Fok Ying Tung Research Institute, G-Rocket, GAC Group, and the Xinyueneng–Jingke semiconductor exhibition.
- A Guangzhou–Hong Kong Semiconductor Industry Collaboration dinner attended by government and industry leaders.
Route
Day 1 — Shenzhen: BlueBay Hetao Base and BlueBay Qianhai
Day 2 — Nansha: HKUST(GZ) iPARK, Fok Ying Tung Research Institute, G-Rocket and GAC Group
Day 3 — Guangzhou and Foshan: Pazhou Mofang policy session, pitching, and the Foshan node launch
This first edition establishes a repeatable model for future InnoBay Launchpad Tours to other cities.
